Maxima Grupe has become the main shareholder of Emperia Holding S.A.

Maxima Grupe has successfully completed the deal to acquire Polish company Emperia Holding S.A. which operates the retail chain Stokrotka. Maxima Grupe has become the main shareholder of the company after acquiring 93.7 percent shares worth EUR 276m.

According to the company, having completed this deal, Maxima Grupe is now the largest Lithuanian capital investor in Poland.

With 436 stores, Stokrotka retail chain occupies about 20 percent of the market for near-home stores. The company employs about 8.2 thousand workers, and its turnover in 2017 amounted to EUR 607m.

Maxima Grupe controls retail chains under brands Maxima (in Baltics states), Aldik (in Poland), T-Market (in Bulgaria) and an electronic online shop of food and daily consumer goods Barbora. Maxima Grupe is part of Vilniaus Prekyba, one of the largest retail groups in the Baltics and Central and Eastern Europe.
