Changes in the board of Maxima Grupė: More attention to Poland

Effective 1 October, the composition of the board of Maxima Grupė will change: Vygintas Šapokas, who until now led the Maxima retail chain in Estonia, is leaving that position and Maxima Grupė. As of October, he is moving to Spain to work and will head the Supersol retail chain in that country. The current head of Supersol, Arūnas Zimnickas, who is also a member of the board of Maxima Grupė, will from now on focus all his attention on the retail business which the group operates in Poland.

“We want to apply Arūnas’s long retail trade experience in diverse markets to develop Maxima Grupė’s projects in Poland, which is one of our key focal points for strategic expansion. So from now on the board will have a member who dedicates all his time and attention to that priority market, where we have a lot of plans and a lot of work to do,” Dalius Misiūnas, the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Maxima Grupė, said regarding the changes.

Vygintas Šapokas has been head of the Maxima retail chain in Estonia for more than three years. He has worked for a variety of Maxima Grupė companies since 2003.

Arūnas Zimnickas has led the Supersol chain since 2014. Prior to that he served for three years as the head of Maxima in Lithuania, and for more than three years before that he was the head of Maxima in Latvia.

A selection process will be launched for the position of head of Maxima in Estonia. Until a new general director is named, Marko Põder, Maxima in Estonia member of the management board and chief operations officer, will be in charge.
