In the field of animal welfare, our companies operating in the Baltic region have set a goal to remove cage-laid eggs from shelves by 2025. For our company in Poland, this goal is set for the end of 2025. This decision, made a few years ago, aims to improve practices in the egg production sector. Cage-free and free-range systems are recognized as more humane alternatives, as they provide hens with sufficient space to express natural behaviors such as wing-flapping, perching, and dust bathing. In 2023, sales of cage-free eggs accounted for 41.6% of the total egg volume sold across the Group.
In addition to these goals, our companies in Lithuania and Estonia use only eggs from hens raised on litter or free-range hens in the production of their “Meistro kokybės” private label ready-to-eat or heat-and-eat products, including all ingredients of such foods.
