Timeline

In the 30 years since its establishment, the MAXIMA group of companies, controlled by MAXIMA GRUPĖ, UAB, has become one of the largest retail chains in the Baltic region and has successfully expanded its operations to Poland and Bulgaria. The main activity of the group is the retail sale of food and other daily consumer goods in physical stores and the BARBORA online store.

1992

First three grocery stores opened in Vilnius.

1994

New stores with a common standard opened under the name "Vilniaus prekyba".

1998

First MAXIMA store opened in Vilnius. Launch of the MINIMA, operating in Vilnius MEDIA, MAXIMA chain.

2000

First TAUPA store began operating in Vilnius.

2000-2001

T-MARKET, MAXIMA, mini-MAXIMA retail chain launched in Latvia and Estonia.

2002

TAUPA stores renamed I-MARKE.

2003

T-MARKET stores renamed SAULUTÉ.

2005

T-MARKET retail chain began operating in Bulgaria.

2005-2006

All stores in the Baltics were combined into the unified chain - MAXIMA.

2007

MAXIMA GRUPE established.

2010

Group companies began to use franchising, which is now provided by FRANMAX.

2011

New T-MARKER EXPRESS store format introduced in Bulgaria.

2012

ALDIK retail chain acquired in Poland.

2016

Expansion in Bulgaria: 12 stores acquired.

2017

MAXIMA GRUPÉ acquired the online grocer BARBORA.

MAXIMA LT turns 25.

2018

MAXIMA GRUPE became the main shareholder of Poland's EMPERIA HOLDING S.A. which operates the STOKROTKA retail chain.

BARBORA started its operations in Latvia and Estonia.

MAXIMA GRUPE placed a EUR 300 million issue of 5 year bonds.

SANO retail chain acquired in Poland.

2019

MAXIMA GRUPĖ approved the operational strategy until 2025.

MAXIMA INTERNATIONAL SOURCING was established, where centralized procurement competencies were created.

MAXIMA GROUP stores in Poland start operating under one name - Stokrotka

MAXIMA GROUP has become a member of the "Global Compact" initiative of the United Nations Organization (UNO).

2021

MAXIMA GROUP received an environmental, social and governance risk management rating of 21.7 points from Morningstar Sustainalytics, an independent leader in ESG ratings. With this assessment, MAXIMA GROUP is among the 20% best rated leaders in its sector.

BARBORA enters the Polish market and operates here until 2024.

2022

MAXIMA GRUPĖ issued 240 million euros of 5-year bonds under the approved EMTN program.

2023

MAXIMA GRUPĖ has joined the Science Based Targets Initiative (hereinafter referred to as SBTi) and committed to reduce its impact on the environment by 2030.

2024

MAXIMA GRUPĖ has received official approval for its short-term, scientifically based emission reduction goals.
