The merger of the Stokrotka and Sano retail chains which Maxima Grupė owns in Poland was successfully completed on 1 February. The merged companies will operate under the single Stokrotka brand. Sano stores’ change of name will proceed in stages, with completion planned during the first half of this year.
Currently 36 stores in the north-western part of Poland operate under the Sano brand. They had turnover in 2017 of over 71 million euros.
In late 2018, integration of the Aldik chain that Maxima Grupė had operated in Poland since 2012 was also carried out. During it, the names of that chain’s 30 stores were changed to “Stokrotka”.
“We’ll soon finish combining the chains in Poland with three different names into one. We chose the Stokrotka brand for this chain because it’s a well-known name that customers like which has solid positions in the near-home store segment. Now we’ll start a new phase of operations in Poland where we will focus most on improving how we work and opening new stores,” says Dalius Misiūnas, the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Maxima Grupė.
During 2019, Maxima Grupė plans to open 120-140 new stores in five markets. Many of them will be opened in Poland. The company plans to invest at least EUR 100 million altogether this year in the expansion and renewal of its chains of stores in all markets.
