New Head of MAXIMA Latvija

This week Arūnas Zimnickas is starting as the head of MAXIMA Latvija SIA, a company of MAXIMA GRUPĖ UAB. The new board chairman, appointed 23 July, will succeed Board Chairman Janis Stakens, who is planning to continue his career by establishing independent businesses.
 
Since the start of his professional career at MAXIMA GRUPĖ UAB companies in 2001, Janis Stakens had leading positions in the areas of finance and corporate management in different countries.
 
"We are proud of Janis Stakens, a talented leader developed within the company. In the seven years of work at our companies he passed the entire executive school. During his last three-year tenure, MAXIMA Latvija SIA was working under complicated competitive conditions but nevertheless achieved good results and became an important part of Latvia's business. We wish Janis a successful career in the future where he could use his skills in the business," thanked Director General of MAXIMA GRUPĖ UAB Gintaras Marcinkevičius.
 
Arūnas Zimnickas, who took over as MAXIMA Latvija SIA Board Chairman, has started his career in MAXIMA GRUPĖ UAB companies in 1998. In the period of 2003-2005 he was the Commercial leader of the company's trading centers in Latvia. In the years 2005-2007 Arūnas headed MAXIMA Eesti OÜ, helping the company establish in Estonia's retail trade market. In the last few years he was responsible for MAXIMA GRUPĖ UAB expansion in the new markets.
 
"Arūnas Zimnickas is returning to the company and the market that he knows well. With the help of Arūnas we will continue implementing a consistent company's expansion in the Latvian retail trade market by satisfying the expectations of our customers in Latvia," MAXIMA GRUPĖ UAB Personnel Director Sakalas Gorodeckis presented the new head.
 
MAXIMA Latvija started active operations in Latvia in 2001. Currently the company has a 22 percent retail trade market share and carries out intensive planned expansion. Despite being faced with noticeable economic slowdown in the country, in the first half of the year alone MAXIMA Latvija SIA turnover in Latvia grew more than 24.1 percent. The company owns 124 shopping centers in Latvia.
 
Lithuanian capital company MAXIMA GRUPĖ manages a retail trade business in the Baltic States and Bulgaria, which is made up of 424 shopping centres Maxima X, Maxima XX, Maxima XXX, T-Market, and Ermitažas, a total of 227 in Lithuania, 124 in Latvia, 49 in Estonia, and 22 in Bulgaria. All companies employ over 25 thousand employees.
