Embassy of the Republic of Poland awarded Maxima Grupė for its investments

Embassy of the Republic of Poland to Lithuania together with The Polish Investment and Trade Agency awarded Maxima Grupė for the acquisition of retail chain Stokrotka. The prize was granted during “Polish Business Awards 2018” event that took place at the Embassy on December 11.

“Polish-Lithuanian business relations, which are based on mutual partnership, create the added value for our countries. I am glad for close business cooperation of neighboring countries“, says Urszula Doroszewska, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Lithuania.

The ceremony of “Polish Business Awards”, recognizing the most important Lithuanian and Polish business events, has been organized for the 7th year already. During it, companies which contributed to Polish and Lithuanian business expansion, investment and the strengthening of countries mutual relations are awarded. The prize to Maxima Grupė was given by Virginijus Sinkevičius, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania.

“The acknowledgment for investment in Poland is very important for us. It is a strategic market, where we plan to maintain a fast pace of expansion. The award received from our neighbors is a pleasant incentive to continue our work and grow Lithuanian capital business in Poland”, says the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Maxima Grupė Dalius Misiūnas.

According to the company, having completed the acquisition deal Maxima Grupė has become the largest Lithuanian capital investor in Poland.

Stokrotka that was acquired by Maxima Grupė earlier this spring, currently owns 551 stores of different format and size in Poland. Almost 9 thousand employees work in the retail chain.

This autumn Maxima Grupė successfully completed integration of Stokrotka and Aldik, Polish retail chain owned since 2012. On December 4, the company announced that Stokrotka has acquired Sano, another retail chain that is operating in the Polish market. The merger of the companies is planned to be completed in the beginning of 2019.

Total turnover of retail chains owned by Maxima Grupė in Poland (Stokrotka, Aldik and Sano) would have amounted to more than EUR 720 million in 2017.
