In 2023, Maxima Lietuva continued its "WE ARE THE COMMUNITY" program for the 9th year. Last year, the main focus of the project was on sustainability. We encouraged communities to adopt a more responsible approach to resource use and their relationship with nature. Over 200 communities joined the project, offering their ideas on how to address environmental or social challenges in their areas. The submitted projects involved not only physical changes but also efforts to educate, engage, and activate local communities. Out of the submitted project applications, 16 communities were selected and received support for implementing their ideas. A total of 118,000 EUR was allocated to 15 projects completed in 2023.
Over the 9 years of the "WE ARE THE COMMUNITY" initiative in Lithuania, 101 projects have been implemented, with a total of 730,000 EUR allocated.
