MAXIMA opened three new shopping centres in Estonia
MAXIMA GROUP is rapidly expanding its shopping centre chain in Estonia, and in February of this year opened three new stores in this country.

MAXIMA XX, the largest store in Estonia, was opened in Narva in the middle of February. The area of the store exceeds 2,600 square metres, and a selection of over 18 thousand goods can be found there. 160 employees work at the store.

Two shopping centres MAXIMA X were opened in Otepaa and Paide. Each of these stores has 30 employees and offers 4,000 various goods.

According to MAXIMA Eesti OU Managing Director Žydrūnas Valkeris, the expansion of MAXIMA shopping centres is oriented not only towards the largest cities of the country, but also to smaller towns – the stores are opened in convenient and easily accessible locations. The head of MAXIMA Eesti OU was delighted that already on the opening day the stores in the smaller towns were visited by nearly half of the local population.

"Furthermore, Otepaa is a popular skiing resort in Estonia; therefore, the shopping centre is convenient not only for the local population, but also for tourists from Lithuania and other countries," Mr Valkeris said.

According to the Managing Director of MAXIMA Eesti OU, plans are to open 20 new MAXIMA shopping centres, including 7 or 8 MAXIMA XX stores, and the first hypermarket MAXIMA XXX in Parnu.

At present, there are 46 MAXIMA shopping centres in Estonia – 42 MAXIMA X and 4 MAXIMA XX stores. MAXIMA has 11 percent of the retail trade market in Estonia, and is planning to increase the share to 14-15 percent by the end of this year.

Last year, the turnover of MAXIMA Eesti OU increased by 57 percent, which equals 660.6 million litas. Similar results are expected this year as well.
